Marvel Studios has unveiled the final poster for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which references the film’s horror origins while hinting at the film’s multiverse.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now just ten days away from its release in the United States, and a new Marvel teaser teases the horrifying new areas of the MCU that will be explored. Doctor Strange 2 has been dubbed the MCU’s first horror picture, and filmmaker Sam Raimi, who began his career in horror before moving on to helm the most successful pre-MCU Marvel property, the Spider-Man movie, is the ideal option to bring that to the fullest.
The new design, which features Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, and the rest of the supporting cast in blood crimson and blazing orange flames, has the effect of a classic horror movie poster. Each character has variants, most notably a variety of Strange — Defender Strange, the zombified Strange, and a Strange dressed in a suit (presumably the one seen attending a wedding in the trailers).
In order to go even further into the film’s horror aspects, the bottom of the poster depicts two sitting skeletons in a stance reminiscent of Rodin’s The Thinker. America Chavez and Wong may be seen hung in the air and wreathed in flames in front of Wanda, who is seated at what seems to be a demonic shrine in the background.
