The Beauty and the Beast prequel series on Disney+ has been pushed back indefinitely.
Variety shared the Beauty and the Beast prequel series has been come to a halt at Disney+ for the foreseeable future due to creative and scheduling difficulties. The live-action musical performance was supposed to be underway in Europe in the summer of 2022, but due to weather concerns and some creative parts not being ready, schedule issues with the project’s cast and crew would have come into conflict.
Fra Fee, the star of Hawkeye, attended the series’ cast earlier this year, and Rita Ora was recently confirmed to join as well. The series, named The Little Town, would apparently be a spin-off of Disney’s 2017 live-action musical Beauty and the Beast, featuring Emma Watson. In June 2021, Luke Evans and Josh Gad will be revealed to reprise their roles as Gaston and LeFou (Louie), respectively, with newcomer Brianna Middleton as Louie’s stepsister, Tilly.
When the series was initially released, Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer of Disney Branded Television, stated “For anyone who’s ever wondered how a brute like Gaston and a goof like LeFou could have ever become friends and partners, or how a mystical enchantress came to cast that fateful spell on the prince-turned-beast, this series will finally provide https://premierpedsny.com/prime-pharmacies/ those answers…and provoke a whole new set of questions.”

Disney+ ordered eight episodes of the series in June 2021, with Gad, Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (Once Upon a Time) serving as executive producers, showrunners and writers. The first episode will be directed by Tony Award nominee Liesl Tommy and will include an original score by EGOT Award winner Alan Menken. The show will center on Gaston, Lefou, and Tilly as they embark on an unexpected adventure following a “surprising revelation” regarding Tilly’s background.
“I think that we have origin stories here that are unbelievably exciting because they’re unexpected,” Gad said in a July 2021 interview. “And I think ‘expect the unexpected’ is all I can really say. And not just with regard to LeFou and Gaston but to a lot of the new characters that we’re introducing.”
Beauty and the Beast was among the live-action remakes of classic Disney animated films aired in 2017, the most recent being Cruella, which acted as a spin-off to 101 Dalmations. A remake of The Little Mermaid featuring Halle Bailey and Snow White with Rachel Zegler are one of Disney’s forthcoming live-action flicks.
The release date for Disney+’s Beauty and the Beast prequel remains unknown, as is the extent of the delay.
