While Daredevil, The Punisher, and other Marvel shows will no longer be available on Netflix, these shows will soon find a new home.

This morning, social media was buzzing with news that the six Defenders of the Universe series will only be accessible on Netflix until March 1st. When the Defenders of the MCU departs Netflix, Disney will reveal a new streaming home for Marvel’s Daredevil and other Marvel Television series. All Marvel series now streaming on Netflix, including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher, will be moved to a new streaming platform that Marvel and Disney will unveil in store, although it is still unclear if they will be moved to Disney+. As of right now, Netflix will no longer be able to stream any of these Marvel Television series.

This comes on the heels of Netflix announcing Daredevil, The Punisher, and more shows that will be leaving in the coming weeks. This is little wonder, given that Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand with a slate of upcoming blockbusters and Disney+ series. Following the release of Avengers in 2012, series like ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Daredevil were produced to extend the MCU.

Daredevil, starring Charlie Cox as Matthew Murdock, aired on Netflix for three seasons from 2015 to 2018. During its run, Marvel produced Netflix episodes including Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, which eventually led to a limited http://www.stmonicaofmobile.com/accutane-info/ series called The Defenders, which featured all four heroes joining together. While each series alluded to the wider MCU, it was unclear if they were deemed canon within the movie. In 2018, over a year before the introduction of Disney+ in 2019, each Marvel Netflix series was terminated and weeded out from the MCU canon with the release of Daredevil’s third and final season.

“We understood what Marvel was doing because Disney+ [was] coming out…,” says Vincent D’Onofrio, who played Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in Daredevil and subsequently reprised the character in Disney+’s Hawkeye series.  “When you’re in this business a long time like we have all been, it kind of made sense business-wise. What didn’t make sense to us was why we wouldn’t continue that show or the idea of how that worked and how well it worked.”

Cox reprised his role as Matthew Murdock/Daredevil for a small role in Spider-Man: No Way Home prior to D’Onofrio’s debut in Hawkeye, essentially bringing the two characters into the MCU. It’s unclear what this implies for the other Marvel Netflix series. However, Daredevil’s cameos by Cox and D’Onofrio resulted in a striking rise in viewing, with the series ranking ninth on Nielsen’s SVOD Top 10 list for original shows during the week of December 20, 2021 to December 26, 2021.

Netflix will also have Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher available until March 1.
