Plans for a live-action Wonder Twins film, based on the DC Comics’ same-named characters, have been canceled by HBO Max.
The project was being developed as a film for HBO Max, with Riverdale’s KJ Apa and 1883’s Isabel May attached to star. Wonder Twins was set to be helmed by Adam Sztykiel, who worked on Dwayne Johnson‘s impending Black Adam screenplay.
Similarly, one source said that the budget was excessive for what is considered an HBO Max film. Twins was estimated to cost $75 million, but according to insiders, Zaslav wants to keep original HBO Max films at around $35 million.
Zan and Jayna, often known as the Wonder Twins, are a pair of extraterrestrial siblings. Their début on Hanna-The Barbera’s All-New Super Friends Hour as youthful companions to adult heroes like Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman left an indelible mark on a generation of television viewers. The pair later featured in the Super Friends comic and eventually became a part of the greater DC world.
