It has been confirmed that it’s Keanu Reeves that would voice Batman in the animated DC League of Super-Pets series produced by Warner Bros. Despite being hidden under the famous cape and cowl, Reeves’ frightening and familiar voice can be recognized in the new teaser for the film, which is set to fly into theaters in May. Kevin Hart will voice Ace the Bat-Hound, one of the Bat’s many aides.
As shown in the teaser, Batman and Ace reminisce over their terrible pasts, indicating that they will be a match made in pet-owner heaven. With The Batman craze at an all-time high with the arrival of a dark and gritty DC film, WB dropped a much more lighthearted Keanu Reeves-voiced version of the character in a new DC League of Super-Pets trailer. However, whereas the movie remains been set in Gotham City, DC League of Super-Pets will travel around the DC Universe, with characters such as Krypto the Super-Dog (Dwayne Johnson) and Superman (John Krasinski) making short appearances in the film’s teaser.
For their next animated picture, Warner Bros. has amassed a formidable ensemble, with various comedy talents contributing their voices to Krypto and Ace’s four-legged counterparts. Vanessa Bayer will voice PB, a pig who becomes Wonder Woman’s pet, Natasha Lyonne will portray Merton, a swift turtle who is The Flash’s pet, and Diego Luna will perform Ch’p, a squirrel with electrical skills who becomes the pet of Green Lantern. Marc Maron will provide the voice for Lex Luthor. In addition, Kate McKinnon, Thomas Middleditch, Ben Schwartz, and Jameela Jamil are set to star in the movie, perhaps rounding out the rest of the Justice League.
The film is directed by Jared Stern (The Watch, The Internship). DC League of Super-Pets is not his first cooperation with Warner Animation Group; he worked with The Lego Batman Movie and The Lego Ninjago Movie as a writer. Additionally, he produced the 2016 film Storks and the 2018 film Smallfoot. Behind Super-Pets, the animation company is gearing up for many other projects, including a new Looney Tunes feature, Coyote vs. Acme, starring John Cena. Additionally, there is an HBO Max prequel for their 2020 film Scoob! dubbed Scoob! Holiday Haunt, as well as Toto, inspired by Dorothy’s dog in The Wizard of Oz.
The film DC League of Super-Pets will be released in cinemas on May 20. Take a look at the trailer below:
