In its first weekend, the new animated family picture DC League of Super-Pets is aiming for the top place at the box office.

As the summer blockbuster season comes to a close, a new picture is vying for the top place at the box office. DC League of Super-Pets, Warner Animation Group’s newest family picture, grossed $9.3 million on its first day, including $2.2 million from Thursday previews.
According to box office projections, the picture will earn between $22-23 million in its first weekend. It is likely to outperform last week’s movie office king, Jordan Peele‘s Nope, with this predicted haul.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie now has a 71 percent critics’ approval rating. The website’s audience score is 88 percent, which is respectable for a kid-friendly animated movie featuring characters from DC Comics. The movie, which also stars Kevin Hart as Ace the Bat-Hound and Dwayne Johnson as Krypto the Super-Dog, aims to further The Rock‘s relationship with DC, which is expected to rise to new heights later this year with the release of Black Adam.
The movie is now showing in cinemas.
