The DC Universe has experienced significant changes throughout the years, but one thing will never change: Batman will always be billed as a grounded figure, which is perhaps the trait that has attracted millions of comic book readers to the caped crusader for centuries.
It turns out, shockingly, that even the world’s best detective, Bruce Wayne, is not immune from going through creative changes, and with the whole comic book industry having embraced diversity and inclusiveness for quite some time now, Bruce Wayne appears to be following suit.
The heir to Wayne Enterprises is known as a true ladies’ man, but DC Comics may have just revealed that he also has a penchant for the opposite gender. In Batman: The Knight #5, Bruce Wayne‘s sexual orientation was clearly implied to be bisexual. In the aforementioned issue, there is a scene in which Bruce approaches Anton, a fellow trainee.
It seemed as if the two were having an intimate moment together and were ready to kiss when they were suddenly cut in. Of course, how one chooses to interpret this particular issue is entirely up to them. Take a look at the panel below:
Even though we’ve always associated Batman and Bruce Wayne with numerous female love partners over the years, this is a fascinating viewpoint and an unexpected one at that. There was no confirmation of his “bisexuality” in this comic, but DC Comics seems to be experimenting with this character’s future.
Whether or not fans accept Bruce’s new sexual orientation is something in limbo, but I’m quite certain that it will cause a stir among the fans.
Speaking of Batman, The Batman by Matt Reeves is now available to stream on HBO Max.
