Dave Bautista Bids An Emotional Farewell To Drax As ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3’ Finishes Filming

Dave Bautista, who takes on the role of Drax in Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, turned to social media to say his heartfelt goodbyes to the character after production wrapped on the third installment.

James Gunn recently stated that work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has come to an end, bringing an end to the director’s trilogy of films based on the Guardians franchise. The first film in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise was released in 2014, and since then, the ragtag band of intergalactic outcasts has become a mainstay of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, making appearances in Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and the upcoming film Thor: Love and Thunder. Gunn has said that the third film in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise will be the last time we see the present team; but, before that happens, they will appear in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special on Disney Plus.

On Instagram, Dave Bautista reflected on the conclusion of filming by posting a photo of himself with James Gunn and other Guardians cast members. While it is uncertain if any members of the current Guardians squad will return in future MCU films, Bautista has already said that he considers Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 to be Drax’s last appearance in the franchise, and it seems that this will be the case. He wrote as the image’s caption, “Haven’t found the words yet. It ended so suddenly and I was on to my next film before I could process it all. End of a journey that changed my life.”

Even while fans still have two more appearances from Drax to look forward to, bidding farewell to the character that won over viewers the moment he made his on-screen debut in 2014 is sure to be full of emotions.

In the imminent film Thor: Love and Thunder, Dave Bautista is slated to make a return as Drax, along with the other Guardians.

The third installment of the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘ franchise is set for release in cinemas on May 5, 2023.
