Dancing with the Stars, which aired on ABC for 30 seasons from 2005 to 2021, will now be available only to stream on Disney+, putting an end to its run on broadcast television. The long-running competition show has been renewed for two more seasons by the streaming service, making it the first live series to start on the service. It will be unleashed exclusively on Disney+ in the United States and Canada sometime in the fall.
Dance with the Stars is a variety show in which celebrities are paired with professional ballroom dancers to compete in choreographed dance routines based on a number of different themes. It is created by BBC Studios’ Los Angeles production arm for a live audience.
In 2005, the show made its television debut on ABC, and since then, it has been taken by storm all over the world. During its season finale in the fall of 2021, ABC’s Dancing with the Stars ranked among the top five unscripted series among adults 18 to 49 years old.
