On Thursday night, Netflix caught Cobra Kai fans off guard by revealing the debut date for the forthcoming fifth season of the famous Karate Kid sequel. With the announcement came a sneak peek at the Netflix series’ forthcoming installments.
Season 5 of Cobra Kai will premiere exclusively on Netflix on September 9th.
The clip was initially played at the Cobra Kai: Live & Bad Ass event, which was part of the Netflix Is a Joke: The Festival in Los Angeles, before making its way online.
Season five looks to continue off just where the fourth ended, with John Kreese (Martin Kove) in jail, framed for assault, while Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) overhauls and develops the Cobra Kai karate school.
Meanwhile, Ralph Macchio‘s Daniel LaRusso and Yuji Okumoto‘s Chozen Toguchi band together to bring Silver down once and for all. Meanwhile, Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and his son, Robby Keene (Tanner Buchanan), hunt for Miguel Diaz (Xolo Mariduea), who has flown to Mexico in quest of his biological father.
Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg wrote and executive produced Cobra Kai for Counterbalance Entertainment. Netflix is currently broadcasting the first four seasons of Sony Pictures Television’s Cobra Kai.
