There will soon be a new Cloverfield tale.

J.J. Abrams is producing the upcoming Cloverfield movie through his production company, Bad Robot, and Babak Anvari will be directing it.
Following the success of Paramount’s Top Gun: Maverick, the announcement was made. The movie will be the first new installment in the Cloverfield series since The Cloverfield Paradox, which debuted on Netflix in 2018. Joe Barton, who will write the script, will work with Anvari and Abrams.
Along with Bryan Burk, Matt Reeves, and Drew Goddard serving as executive producers, Hannah Minghella and Jon Cohen are also linked to the project as producers.
Babak Anvari’s upcoming Cloverfield project is being kept under wraps, so it’s unclear if the movie is a new spin-off like earlier entries 10 Cloverfield Lane and The Cloverfield Paradox, or if it would be a direct sequel to the original.
Babak Anvari previously served as executive producer on the Hulu original series Monsterland and directed the 2016 horror film Under the Shadow. More recently, he helmed the Netflix film I Came By, starring George Mackay, Kelly Macdonald, and Hugh Bonneville.
The Director of the first Cloverfield and executive producer of the latest installment is Matt Reeves. It is not unexpected to see J.J. Abrams return for the forthcoming Cloverfield movie considering he acted as producer on all of the movies.
The previous two Cloverfield movies were created under separate names and their connection to the Cloverfield world was not made public until the start of their own marketing campaigns.
Gug Mbatha-Raw, David Oyelowo, and Daniel Brühl are among the actors who feature in Julius Onah’s film.
