Lightyear, starring Chris Evans, is having a box office debut that falls short of expectations.

The latest Toy Story spinoff film Lightyear was initially revealed back in December 2022 as the definitive origin story of the original Space Ranger Buzz that was the source of inspiration for the toy. This film stars Chris Evans as the voice of the legendary character that served as the basis for the Tim Allen-voiced action figure.
However, it seems that the film’s box office performance somewhat failed to live up to predictions. Lightyear was anticipated to bring in between $70-$85 million in its opening weekend, but it is now expected to earn $52 million. Even if this will be the most successful opening weekend for an animated picture in the middle of the epidemic, it is clear that Disney and Pixar’s expectations were not met, particularly for a film that is tied to one of their most successful properties.
It is anticipated that Jurassic World: Dominion would maintain its crown at the top of the box office during its second weekend of release. The sequel is inching to rack up $57.1 million.
Lightyear is hitting worldwide cinemas since June 17, 2022.
