‘Choose or Die’ Trailer Reveals Asa Butterfield Play Against A Deadly Game

In a new teaser for Netflix's upcoming horror film, Choose or Die, Asa Butterfield and Iola Evans are haunted by a cursed retro video game.

Choose or Die, Netflix’s latest thriller, pits Asa Butterfield and Iola Evans against a lethal ’80s video game in the trailer. The horror film follows Evans’ Kayla, a cash-strapped student who, along with Butterfield’s Isaac, participates in a retro survival game in order to win an unclaimed cash prize. In doing so, Kayla and Isaac unintentionally unleash a lethal curse that has them fighting for their lives. Eddie Marsan, Ryan Gage, and horror veteran Robert Englund join Butterfield and Evans in the impressive Choose or Die cast.

The latest Choose or Die trailer, as revealed by Netflix, provides viewers their first proper look at Kayla and Isaac’s horrifying battle against the aptly called video game, CURS>R. The teaser contains numerous horrifying scenes, hinting at CURS>crossover R’s into reality, with one clip depicting Kayla determining the destiny of an innocent waitress. A further scene shows Isaac reacting to the game, which appears to be duplicating his words as he talks, before another appears to show Isaac glitching in real life. The trailer concludes with a montage of horrible incidents, including a particularly gruesome-looking image involving a sink full of needles. Check out the trailer and some first-look shots after the jump:

Choose or Die appears to be a terrific blend of Black Mirror and Saw, and the first teaser suggests that the film will not hold back in forcing Kayla and Isaac to make a slew of bad decisions. While Butterfield and Evans have already shown to be brilliant actors in their own right, neither is well-known for their work in horror, so Choose or Die could be a good starting point for the young actors. It’ll also be fascinating to see how much Robert Englund appears in the film, as the trailer doesn’t reveal much about the horror legend’s role. When Choose or Die premieres on April 15, Kayla and Isaac’s fate will be decided.
