In the previous few decades, showtime was considered one of the gold standards in regard to high-quality television. Their next project, The Man Who Fell to Earth, is planned to premiere later this month and the trailer is just released to promote this series.

The trailer shows a glimpse at the general story of the series when Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Faraday becomes a human being to protect his own alien race with the support of Naomie Harris’s Justin Falls. Whereas some classic genre conflicts of the military are teased by this new footage after Ejiofor’s character pushes him to escape, it also introduces a thrilling mission of alien learning and overcoming the ranks of humanity to protect the world.

The visuals are also very breathtaking thanks to a lot of stimulating colorwork.

The contrast between different blues, purples, oranges, and some deep shadows creates a raised feeling for the show. An epic mood is set and brings about a multi-layered story with creepy dangers. Furthermore, this trailer gives audiences a feeling that it will combine a lot of eras and genres together.

From scene to scene, it interestingly switches from an astonishing style regularly seen in sci-fi films of the 50s to the visual fascination of classic noir movies while it still gives an obviously modern feeling to the general story.

It’s appropriate as this project is based on the 1963 same-name novel by Walter Travis which was then adapted into a 1976 movie featuring David Bowie. The series itself has many different features from your average modern sci-fi offering.

The huge scale is not created by big space battles or pompous conflicts, but probably by emotionally heavy visuals that make you lost in this world’s human core. In this trailer, the intriguing details are the things that have not been said; additionally, the thrilling imagery makes it difficult to look away from everything. It’s a nice signal when this series has a completely talented cast. Besides Ejiofor and Harris, the cast members include Bill Nighy, Rob Delaney, Sonya Cassidy, Jimmi Simpson, Clarke Peters, and Kate Mulgrew.

Showtime has completed some horror movies; however, this is the first time they have taken a dive into the sci-fi genre. That’s another reason audiences are excited about this project.

The Man Who Fell to Earth seems to keep going with the great quality standards that we expect and also discover the unknown territory.
