Brie Larson is unable to provide much information about The Marvels, although she did emphasize how crazy the sequel will be.
When questioned about the Captain Marvel followup, Larson told Uproxx, “I wish I could talk about it.” “I can talk about my feelings around it. I can say that… I can’t say enough about how incredible our director, Nia DaCosta, is and what an honor it was to work with her, what an immense talent she is, how much I just feel like she’s the future. And I could also say that, when I read the script for the first time, I couldn’t believe what I was reading. I was like, this is bonkers.”
“It’s the thing that I love about Marvel, is that they continue to reinvent,” Larson added. “They continue to do the thing that you just would never think would be possible in these films. And they’re not afraid to go there. So I’m super excited about what we did. I think there are some huge personal achievements of mine that I’m really excited about sharing, but you know, it’s fun to have a bit of a secret. And it’s fun to know that, when this film comes out, people are going to be delighted. And I get to keep that to myself for a little bit longer.”
Larson just marked one year till the release of Captain Marvel 2. The star has been revealing her fitness regimens for the film on a regular basis, and she recently detailed how her personal training mirrors how much more strong Carol Danvers will be in the sequel.
“In the first film, she’s developing that strength, and so I was developing my own personal strength with this one,” Larson shared. “She’s already got more mastery over her powers. She can fly now. And so having my body more limber, more ready for these types of movements, like wirework, which I didn’t have to do as much on the first one, was the main goal.” Danvers will not be alone in the sequel, as Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau will join the cast, as the franchise’s name change indicates. The former will make her Disney+ debut later this year, while the latter acquired her powers during WandaVision and then traveled to space to work with Carol’s old friend Nick Fury. Given this, it’s evident that the cosmos will play a significant role in the next movie, which means Larson’s tone clues might indicate a film in the spirit of Thor: Ragnarok or the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.
