The Lost City, Paramount’s first big studio-wide release in three weeks, opened in 3,400 theaters yesterday at 4 p.m., grossing $2.5 million. That amount, I understand, excludes any previous weekend Fandango previews or those held at the AMC earlier in the week. The film is predicted to gross $25 million, but a $30 million gross would not be surprising. The freshest Rotten Tomatoes reviews are at 75%.
Los Angeles, Orlando, New York City, Albuquerque, Salt Lake City, Pharr TX, Miami, Colorado Springs, El Paso, and Sacramento were among the top cinemas for the Sandra Bullock-Channing Tatum-Brad Pitt-Daniel Radcliff romantic comedic adventure, demonstrating the film’s regional popularity.
The Lost City‘s counterpart is now Free Guy, an original comedy that made $2.2 million on Thursday night previews, $10.4 million on Friday, and $28.3 million over the weekend. Bullock’s previous theatrical release, excluding Netflix’s The Unforgivable and Bird Box, was the all-star ensemble Warner Bros/Village Roadshow’s Ocean’s Eight in June 2018, which opened to $4 million in Thursday night previews before going on to gross $15.5 million on Friday and $41.6 million overall.

The Batman, a regular release from Warner Bros., concludes its third week with $48.1 million, bringing its total to $311.4 million from 4,302 cinemas. The DC film directed by Matt Reeves is expected to gross roughly $20 million this weekend. Thursday’s revenue is expected to be $2.5 million, down 11% from Wednesday.
After a $1 million Thursday, Cruncyroll’s Jujutsu Kaisen 0 concluded its debut week with $23.1 million in 2,286 theaters, down 15% from Wednesday. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy grossed $10.6 million in its fifth week, down -13 percent from the previous week’s total of $128.5 million. A24’s X has grossed $6.1 million in its first week. After a $349K Thursday, -14 percent from Wednesday, Tatum’s Dog concludes its fifth week with $5.6M and a rolling total of $55.7M.
The domestic total for Sony’s Spider-Man: No Way Home is $1.4 million short of $800 million. Pic’s 14th week finished with $4.2 million, down 6% from the previous week’s gain of $798.6 million in the US and Canada.
