
The new film Morbius featuring Jared Leto has earned $17.1 million from 4,268 theaters at the box office on Friday. As expected, the movie is projected to have a domestic opening in the $40 million range.
Friday’s haul contained $5.7 million in Thursday previews.
The Marvel comic book character called “the Living Vampire” is the subject of this Sony movie. Sony reveals that Morbius isn’t a standard superhero pic, but he tends to show more dark-action thrilling feelings. It is reported that the project cost $75 million to produce before marketing.
Director Daniel Espinosa‘s movie is to tell about a clever Dr. Michael Morbius who has spent his life looking for a remedy for the rare fatal blood disease that impacts him. When he becomes a blood-sucking monster, it scares him with horror. With only a 17 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Morbius has received discouraging reviews from critics. Additionally, the audience’s opinions are mixed as it gets C+ CinemaScore when exit scores on PostTrak are mediocre. On Rotten Tomatoes, the score from the audience is 67 percent.
In the project, Matt Smith and Adria Arjona also play an important role in Marvel’s origin story of the conflicted antihero; furthermore, they get along with vampire bats to cure his disorder. Other cast members include Jared Harris, Al Madrigal, and Tyrese Gibson.
It is certain that Morbius will win the weekend crown and exact figures will be revealed Sunday morning.
