Netflix has just revealed the first glimpse of Blonde, and it seems uncanny. This new teaser trailer for the Andrew Dominik-directed drama teased the life of Norma Jeane Baker-turned-Monroe, the Hollywood sweetheart. It gives a sense of a sobbing bundle of anxieties pleading with an unknown “she” not to forsake her. As Monroe’s makeup is done and she turns into a dazzling, smiling celebrity, it becomes clear who she has been waiting for.
Blonde was written and directed by Dominik, based on Joyce Carol Oates’s novel. The movie is a combination of truth and fiction in the Hollywood iconic to retell her life, thereby delving further into the divide that exists between Marilyn Monroe’s public and inner personas.
Joining Ana de Armas are Adrien Brody, Bobby Cannavale, Evan Williams, Caspar Phillipson, Julianne Nicholson, Toby Huss, Lily Fisher, Xavier Samuel, Sara Paxton, David Warshofsky, Spencer Garrett, Michael Masini, Scoot McNairy, Chris Lemmon, Rebecca Wisocky, Lucy Devito, Dan Butler, Garret Dillahunt, and Ned Bellamy.
Brad Pitt, Jeremy Kleiner, Dede Gardner, Scott Robertson, and Tracey Landon are behind the film’s production. Christina Oh is on board as Executive Producer.
Blonde is set to hit Netflix on September 23.
