The Crow looks to be ready to fly again after years of failed beginnings and several circles of development hell.

Bill Skarsgard, who starred as Pennywise the Clown in the It horror films, will appear in Rupert Sanders‘ adaptation of the supernatural vengeance thriller. Sanders is best known for directing Snow White and the Huntsman and Ghost in the Shell.

Edward R. Pressman, a long-time Crow steward, and Malcolm Gray, a co-producer on the Chadwick Boseman thriller 21 Bridges, are manufacturing.
The Crow was a late-eighties indie comic written and illustrated by James O’Barr that depicted the tragic story of a man and his girlfriend who were beaten and killed by a gang when their car broke down. A crow resurrects the guy, and he seeks vengeance on those who took his and his love’s lives.
Eric Draven, the guy on a revenge quest, will be played by Skarsgard. The script was written by Zach Baylin, who just received an Oscar nomination for his work on King Richard.
The project is halfway into preproduction, with filming scheduled to begin in June in Prague and Munich. The film’s budget is in the $50 million level, and it appears that the picture will be successful.
Vincent Perez featured in the followup of The Crow, which is The Crow: City of Angels. It was launched in 1996, and two sequels, The Crow: Salvation (2000) and The Crow: Wicked Prayer (2005), starred Eric Mabius and Edward Furlong, respectively. Mark Dacascos starred in a late-1990s television series. However, with the release of Wicked Prayer in 2005, the franchise has undergone a lot of ups and downs.
One relaunch was directed by Stephen Norrington (Blade), while another was co-written by F. Javier Gutiérrez (Before the Fall) with actor Luke Evans. Corin Hardy (The Nun) took on the responsibility of rebooting the film in 2017 and cast Jason Momoa as the lead, but both men quit in 2018 due to a feud between the producers and the distributor over financial concerns, clipping the project’s wings once more.
Skarsgard, who helped the It films gross more than $1.1 billion worldwide, will appear in John Wick: Chapter 4 and is presently filming the action-adventure Boy Kills World. In Marvel’s 2021 film Eternals, he voiced a character named Kro, which is ironic. Before making his feature debut with 2012’s Snow White and the Huntsman, a big-budget fairytale starring Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, and Chris Hemsworth, Sanders made a name for himself as a commercial filmmaker proficient at visual magic. Scarlett Johansson appeared in his 2017 film Ghost in the Shell, which was based on the manga.
