The Netflix release of the previous season of Better Call Saul, which took place two weeks before the show’s final season began, resulted in a boost in viewership.
The fifth season of the AMC series premiered on Netflix on April 4, and Saul was clearly the most viewed acquired series of that week, with 915 million minutes of watching time in only one week. That also placed them in second place among all titles, behind only Bridgerton (1.62 billion minutes).
Better Call Saul‘s sixth and final season began on AMC on April 18, two years after season five wrapped. It stands to reason to assume that rewatching or catching up on season five accounted for a significant amount of audiences’ Netflix time.
After a 50% drop in the previous week, Bridgerton nevertheless held on to its No. 1 spot overall. Moon Knight, a Marvel series, meanwhile, had a substantial increase in viewership during the week its second episode was released on Disney+, clocking in at 608 million minutes of viewing time (a 45 percent jump from its premiere). The Ultimatum, a Netflix unscripted series, had got off a good start, garnering 838 million minutes of viewership.
The Outlaws, a Stephen Merchant comedy series, also made the top ten for its first week on Amazon’s Prime Video. With 240 million minutes of watching, it came in the eighth position among originals, barely ahead of Hulu’s The Dropout (232 million).
