Emmy-winner actress Jodie Comer has officially signed on to play the main role in executive producer Benedict Cumberbatch‘s forthcoming apocalyptic thriller film The End We Start From. The film is based on Megan Hunter‘s best-selling novel of the same name.

The feminist survival narrative centers on a young family ripped apart in the chaos of an environmental calamity that sees London inundated by floodwaters. Comer will portray a woman attempting to navigate the most difficult and horrific start to parenting with her newborn kid.

The End We Begin From, directed by Mahalia Bello, is based on a screenplay by Alice Birch (Succession). Leah Clarke, Amy Jackson, Adam Ackland, Sophie Hunter, and Liza Marshall,  are the producers. Cumberbatch, Anton’s Sébastien Raybaud, Comer, Cecile Gaget, and Eva Yates serve as executive producers.

Comer is most recognized for her role as Villanelle in the fourth and final season of BBC One’s thrilling dramedy Killing Eve. She’ll next be seen in Adam McKay‘s HBO sex therapy series Big Swiss.
