Blonde hair? Eight-pack abs? Stone-washed denim jacket with no sleeves? Right, Ryan Gosling is now a real-life doll, Ken doll.

Anyone who lived through the 1980s will recognize the style, and Ryan Gosling totally nails it in the first shot of him as “Ken” in Warner Bros.’ Greta Gerwig-directed Mattel film Barbie.
The Barbie project has been in the works for quite some time, with Anne Hathaway and Amy Schumer taking over the leads at Sony until Warner Bros. picked it up. Will Ferrell, Simu Liu, America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Michael Cera, and Issa Rae are also on board. Gerwig and Baumbach serve as the screenplay’s co-writers. The plot’s details are still scarce at the time being, but given director Gerwig’s track record, one may anticipate that this will not be a normal story of the legendary doll’s narrative.
A while back, the first photograph of Margot Robbie as the film’s titular doll was unveiled.

The studio announced today at CinemaCon in Las Vegas that Barbie would swoop into cinemas on July 21, 2023.
