Marvel Studios appears to have found the writer for the much-awaited movie after revealing Avengers: The Kang Dynasty at this year’s Comic-Con. According to sources, Jeff Loveness will write The Kang Dynasty for Marvel. He most recently penned Ant-Man and Wasp: Quantumania. Destin Daniel Cretton, who was recently chosen as the project’s director, will now be joined by Loveness, with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige producing.
Marvel declined to respond. The movie will premiere on May 2, 2025.
This summer’s San Diego Comic-Con saw the enormous announcement of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s upcoming stages, and Cretton’s appointment as director was confirmed immediately after the event. There isn’t much information available about the movie, but Jonathan Majors’ portrayal of Kang the Conquer, a new supervillain who is poised to wreck havoc on the MCU, is a key player.
Although the character initially debuted at the conclusion of Season 1 of Loki, Loveness’s upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is expected to include him prominently. Given his familiarity with the titular character that this squad of Avengers must face, he would seem to be the best candidate to take on this next Avengers.
Loveness began his writing career on the lauded and wildly successful cartoon sitcom Rick & Morty. Given how humorous the series can be and how crucial that tone is to the narrative, his efforts on it ultimately led to him being hired for the Ant-Man and the Wasp sequel.
