The soundtrack for James Cameron‘s eagerly awaited “Avatar: The Way of Water” sequel has been teased by The Weeknd.

The film’s logo and release date of December 16 is visible in a little clip that the Canadian musician shared. A choir and thundering drum beat can be heard in the background, evoking the opulent James Horner theme from the last movie.
It is yet unknown how much of The Weeknd will be featured in the movie or soundtrack.
A$AP Rocky, Travis Scott, Future, and the late Takeoff also had appearances on Metro Boomin’s most recent album, which also included The Weeknd. He released “Dawn FM” earlier this year as the follow-up to “After Hours,” which topped the charts in 2020.
When ‘Avatar: The Way of Water‘ opens in theaters the following week, it is anticipated to gross at least $150 million domestically. According to preliminary tracking, the opening weekend revenue could increase even more and reach $175 million or more.
Since ‘The Way of Water’ has been in development for years, Cameron has missed a number of deadlines and release dates due to his desire to push the boundaries of technological and cinematic innovation. Unadjusted for inflation, the first ‘Avatar‘ presently holds the record for the highest-grossing movie ever at the international box office ($2.74 billion in ticket sales).
According to reports from behind the scenes, the movie’s production budget alone has reportedly topped $250 million.
