The ultimate aim of James Cameron‘s Avatar: The Way of Water sequel is about to be realized. It appears that James Cameron’s ambition to secure a box office record for the sequel is ongoing as Avatar 2 is nominated for a Golden Globe in 2023 before its debut and received favorable reviews from both cast members and audiences.

The director has been very concerned about the amount of money they spent on the sequel, believing that the only way to “break even” would be at the box office. This is especially true given that he has not only planned for a threequel but also for Avatar 4 and Avatar 5, the latter of which will feature the Na’vi arriving on Earth.
Given how frequently it has been postponed, Avatar: The Way of Water is without a doubt one of the most eagerly awaited movies of this year. The Way of Water is presently in competition with Tom Cruise‘s Top Gun: Maverick for Best Picture – Drama thanks to Cameron’s assertion that “CGI is not dead.”
Avatar: The Way of Water still has a chance to catch up with its debut this month even though Top Gun: Maverick was Paramount’s highest-grossing domestic release and the first film to top the box office for Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends.
The Emmy-winning comedian and actor Jerrod Carmichael will host the Golden Globes on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. Avatar: The Way of Water, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever from Marvel, and House of the Dragon from HBO also placed in the Golden Globe categories for Best Motion Picture and Best Television Series, respectively.
While Avatar: The Way of Water opens in theaters on December 16, 2022, you can watch Top Gun: Maverick on Paramount+.
