DC has given us an insight into the costumes that Jason Momoa’s Arthur Curry and Yahya Abdul’s Black Manta will be wearing in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Exclusive images at the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas have given us the best look yet at the eagerly awaited sequel’s new outfits.
When Aquaman first appeared on the big screen, he was dressed in the iconic gold and green outfit from the comic books. For the sequel, Arthur will don a dark green costume more in keeping with his more recent comic book incarnations than the previous one. In addition, the new Aquaman suit resembles fish scales, with microscopic circles utilized to provide texture to the garment. Finally, metallic gloves, boots, and shoulder armor rounded out Arthur Curry‘s suit, providing him with some defense against his assailants.
The new Black Manta outfit stays in the same vein of style established in the previous film, although with a few tweaks here and there. The fishbowl hat that the villain wore in the first film is still on him. On the other hand, the helmet is entirely made of metal this time, as opposed to being painted black like the one the villain wore in Aquaman. Black Manta‘s costume likewise seems to be composed of rubber, sans the armor pieces he wore in his earlier appearance. Given that Black Manta is slated to play an extended role in the sequel, it will be entertaining to see a version of the villain that pays respect to its comic book appearance.
