The fact that America Chavez was initially intended to appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home is not a secret, but there were rumors that the teenage superhero would only make a brief cameo appearance in the film. Recent revelations concerning America’s position in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film have come to light, teasing that she was originally slated to take on a significant role in the sequel!
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was originally scheduled to air prior to the third Spider-Man feature, but schedules changed and the release date was also pushed back. This means that America Chavez was originally set to make her film debut in Doctor Strange 2 before assisting other heroes in Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, the plots have been rocked in such a way that America’s role in the Sony picture has been assigned to another character.

However, what was America Chavez‘s purpose in Spider-Man: No Way Home? Originally, the youthful hero was to be Doctor Strange’s apprentice, assisting Peter Parker. However, the role was altered to better suit Jake Batalon‘s Ned Leeds in the film.
It’s not a tremendous leap to see America stepping in to assist Peter and his companions. After all, one of her primary superpowers is the ability to bust through doors to other universes. Considering this, the United States would have been an excellent setting for No Way Back.
It’s a bit disheartening to learn that America Chavez might have aided Peter Parker significantly in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Nonetheless, we’re relieved that the adolescent will continue to make appearances in the MCU later this year. With that in mind, we’re looking forward to seeing America in action in May.
Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Rachel McAdams are all on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness‘s board. Xochitl Gomez will make her film debut as America Chavez in the film, which is scheduled to open in cinemas on May 6, 2022.
