The 94th Academy Awards are set to take place towards the end of the awards season. There’s a lot to learn about Hollywood’s most glitzy night. The Academy Awards have been important in recognizing the finest of film for years, and with this year’s live broadcast, the Academy hopes to shake things up. Because of the low numbers from last year, the event planners have worked feverishly to put on an exciting spectacle now that the world has returned to routine.

The Oscar candidates for this year have acquired a lot of popularity, with Kristen Stewart, Will Smith, and Ariana DeBose being the most popular. CODA, The Mitchells vs. the Machines, Drive My Car, The Power of the Dog,  Dune, and Flee are among the other films that reviewers and moviegoers have debated as to who will win the Oscar. This year’s presentation has also been surrounded by a lot of controversies. This year’s presentation will be remembered for a variety of reasons, including the omission of important categories from the live broadcast and the snubbing of an actress from a nominated film.

For the first time in three years, the Oscars will include a host. This year, the Academy welcomed three new hosts, with Amy Schumer, Regina Hall, and Wanda Sykes taking turns presenting. This will be the first time these three have emceed the Oscars, and the first time three hosts have been present in 35 years. Sykes and Schumer are stand-up comedians who have also written and directed films. Hall is most known for his roles in the Scary Movie series and other films such as Girls Trip, The Best Man, and Little. Inside Amy Schumer, Schumer’s Emmy-winning comedy series, and Trainwreck, the comedy film she created and acted in, are her most well-known works.

Who is going to be the host?

Inside Amy Schumer, Schumer’s Emmy-winning comedy series, and Trainwreck, the comedy film she created and acted in, are her most well-known works. Sykes has also acted in sitcoms such as The Upshaws and Black-ish, and earned an Emmy in 1999 for her writing on The Chris Rock Show.

Last month, when the hosts were revealed, Schumer quipped in a video with GMA, “I’m not sure who thought hosting the Oscars with my dear buddy Wanda Sykes and Regina Hall was a good idea, but I’m doing it. I should probably go watch some movies.”

The Oscars have been without a host for the past three years, and the Academy is hoping to rebound following last year’s embarrassing finale and COVID-19 limitations. Last year’s telecast had only 10 million viewers, an all-time low. This new power three, who have all previously hosted, is anticipated to raise those numbers by providing the laughter.

    Who Is Presenting & Performing?

The show’s organizers have been announcing the lineup of speakers for this year’s glitzy event all month. Some of the most well-known celebrities are backing King Richard, including Venus and Serena Williams. Their father’s effect on their tennis careers is the subject of the film. Bill Murray,  Zoe Kravitz, Jamie Lee Curtis, Lady Gaga, Mila Kunis, Kevin Costner, Josh Brolin, Jacob Elordi,  Chris Rock,  and Wesley Snipes are among the other presenters. Daniel Kaluuya and Yuh-Jung Youn, the Best Supporting Actor and Actress winners from last year, will also present.

After an uproar of dissatisfaction, one presenter was added to the lineup for this year’s Oscars, which have already made multiple headlines with their problems. Rachel Zegler of West Side Story received a remark on Instagram from a fan who expressed their excitement to see what she would wear on the red carpet. Zegler responded that she had not been invited, but that she would still cheer for her West Side Story family from the comfort of her own home. The film, directed by Steven Spielberg, has seven nominations, including Best Picture, and fans, like Russ Tamblyn, who portrayed Riff in the original West Side Story, were disappointed that the star of the film was not invited. “When they say representation matters, this is what that means,” he tweeted, urging the Academy to do the right thing by Zegler. Zegler, who will formally present at this year’s Oscars, thanked her fans and other actors for their support in a tweet last Sunday.
The Oscars producers have hired a large number of performers to perform at this year’s star-studded affair. Beyoncé is in discussions to sing “Be Alive,” a Best Original Song candidate by King Richard, live on a tennis court in Compton, California. Billie Eilish and Finneas will perform “No Time To Die,” their Oscar-nominated song from the film No Time To Die. The other nominated songs from the movie Four Good Days and Encanto will also be performed by Reba McEntire and Sebastián Yatra. Adassa, Stephanie Beatriz, Mauro Castillo, Carolina Gaitan, and Diane Guerrero, members of the Encanto cast, will sing the film’s most popular song, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno.” They’ll be joined on stage by Becky G and Luis Fonsi.

When Will The Oscars Be Held?

The Academy Awards will return to the Dolby Theater live on Sunday, March 27th, on ABC at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PST for the first time since the epidemic.

    Everything Else You Should Know

The Academy will, as is customary, bestow a few Honorary Oscars during the Governors Awards over Oscars weekend. High honors will be given to Elaine May (A New Leaf), Liv Ullman (Utvandarna), and Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction). Danny Glover, a veteran actor, will also receive The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award on the same night for his decades of activism and dedication, UNICEF and the United Nations Development Program have also appointed him as a Goodwill Ambassador. . Glover has created a reputation for himself in the business, beginning with his roles in The Color Purple (1985) and the Lethal Weapon series and progressing through his appearance in Wes Anderson’s The Royal Tenenbaums.

This year’s Oscars have already sparked debate, particularly after the Academy revealed last month that eight of its 23 categories will be removed from the live broadcast. The following categories will not be aired: Best Sound, Original Score, Makeup/Hairstyling, Film Editing, Production Design, Documentary Short, Animated Short, and Live-Action Short. Shortly after the Academy revealed the revisions, filmmakers and moviegoers asked them to return to the former structure. They’ve even pondered skipping the concert this year.
